    South Davis Metro Fire provides emergency and public services to the cities of Bountiful, Centerville, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Woods Cross and the unincorporated areas of South Davis County. All of these cities are located in the south end of Davis County which borders Salt Lake City. Our five fire stations are located strategically throughout our jurisdictional boundaries to provide all of our citizens with the quickest response available. Our emergency services include fire, ambulance, paramedic, hazardous material and technical rescue response. Our public services include fire prevention, public education, CERT, first aid and CPR classes, business inspections, fire investigations, and much more. We are your community fire department.

    INSPECTIONS Fire Inspections are essential to keeping your business and our community safe. South Davis Metro Fire uses the IFC 2021 Fire Code as a standard to check the safety of businesses. These standards ensure all local businesses are in compliance with fire safety regulations. ALL new commercial business license applications are required to have a "passed" fire clearance by South Davis Metro Fire. Although you may only lease a small office, that office is still part of the building. As such, the entire building must be in compliance as well. The clearance letter can then be submitted to the city for a business license. Annual fire inspections are based on a low (3 yr.), medium (2 yr.), or high (annual) level. The following is just an overview of items that should be addressed prior to your inspection: Business must be set-up/ready to operate prior to inspection Address visible from the street All exits need to be free of storage, easily accessible and exit signs need to be illuminated and visible Electrical panel is accessible, labeled and no missing panel tabs Proper storage of oily rags, paint and other hazardous materials NO storage within 36" of water heaters and furnaces Proper fire extinguisher: 2A 10BC minimum for office spaces or retail. Industrial and warehouse areas will need other as applicable. Extinguishers should be inspected/tagged annually. (We do not provide this service) Fire Sprinkler Systems (inspected and tagged annually, where applicable) Fire Alarm Systems (inspected and tagged annually, where applicable) SMDF Fee Schedule INSPECTION PROCESS Contact your city's building/planning office to apply for your business license. 2.     PLAN REVIEWS Home In accordance with Section 104.7.2 of the International Fire Code, South Davis Metro will require a “technical opinion and report” (peer review) of all plans for the installation and/or modification of an automatic fire protection system, installation and/or modification of fire alarm and detection systems and related equipment, fire pumps and related fuel tanks, jockey pumps, controllers and related equipment, installation, modification, or removal from service of a standpipe system. Click here for more information. SITE PLAN REVIEWS - reviews are $100 and need to be paid prior to the review. If the review takes longer than one hour, you will be notified what the additional fee is. The additional fee will be required before the plans are released. DEFERRED SUBMITTALS - will require a plan review fee of $100 if there are less than 10 devices. If there are more than 10 devices, the plans will need to be reviewed by a qualified 3rd party reviewer (Click here for 3rd party review info.) and will not require a plan review fee. All projects will require an installation permit. Fire Sprinkler permits are $300 and include 3 inspections Fire Alarm permits are $200 and include 2 inspections.     Fire pits are allowed in the South Davis Metro Service Area, and must be constantly attended with an extinguishing source immediately available, such as a portable fire extinguisher, dirt, sand, water barrel, or garden hose. The following are guidelines to follow: There must be a minimum distance of 25 feet from any structure The pile size must be 3 feet or less in diameter and 2 feet or less in height The pits can only be used for recreational use only Burning of waste material/garbage is prohibited.
